The 323d Army Band performed their final performance as the Medical Command (MEDCOM) Band on 13 October at Blesse Auditorium on Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. The 323d Army Band is being realigned under US Army North and is being designated as the 323d Army Band "Fort Sam's Own." The band's mission is to support all tenants on Fort Sam Houston and support the San Antonio community and its surrounding area.

The band incorporated videos and skilled vocalists to make the concert a special event. Along with the full concert band performing traditional concert selections, Surgical Stryke, one of the band’s music performance teams (MPT), also performed a couple selections. Master Sergeant James Kruczek was featured on "I'm Already There" with an emotional video background and Sergeant Tony Cooper sang a powerful performance of "Letters from Home." Near the end of the concert, many Soldiers in the band formed a small choir to perform "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" with the full concert band. The concert ended with "The Star and Stripes Forever" and left the audience wanting more.

Major General David Rubenstein, the Commanding General of the US Army Medical Department Center and School, gave his final remarks at the end of concert to show his appreciation for the 323d Army Band and how the 323d Army Band’s roots are with the medical field. The Commander of the 323d Army Band, Chief Warrant Officer, Five Douglas Paarmann, presented Major General Rubenstein as well as Colonel William LaChance, the Commander of the 32d Medical Brigade, plaques to recognize them as honorary members of the MEDCOM Band.

The 323d Army Band was officially realigned on 19 October 2011 under US Army North.
