USAREUR Band Musicians in Jerusalem
JERUSALEM--Israel Eight members of the United States Army Europe Band and Chorus presented an evening of chamber music in Jerusalem, Israel at the request of the White House. These historic performances occurred in conjunction with President George W. Bush's recent Middle East visit commemorating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel.

Members of the Woodwind Quintet and the Clarinet Trio performed at outdoor receptions held at the Israeli Museum and the Shrine of the Book, respectively. Several dignitaries and guests of honor were in attendance, including President and Mrs. Bush, and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

Despite adverse weather conditions throughout the evening, both groups performed well; garnering the attention and accolades of the guests. While President and Mrs. Bush were only in attendance for a short time, one member of the Woodwind Quintet, Sergeant Vincent Fortado (clarinet) did have the honor of greeting the President. Though members of the USAREUR Band often perform abroad, this experience was particularly memorable for these musicians.
