KYIV, UKRAINE (July 4, 2015) - The United States Army Europe (USAREUR) Soldiers’ Chorus let freedom ring in Kyiv to celebrate Independence Day, and to reinforce USAREUR’s commitment to Ukrainian sovereignty. The chorus performed for the U.S. Embassy Independence Day celebration, giving a performance of pop favorites and the National Anthem following remarks from U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt.

"Freedom is something that I think both the Ukrainian people and the American people understand very well. It is a bond that unites both our peoples,” USAREUR Band & Chorus Executive Officer, Capt. Aaron J. Morris.

Alongside the Ukrainian Presidential Orchestra, the Soldiers’ Chorus performed at the Kyiv Open Air Festival as the featured musical group, singing for over 1,000 patrons. The “Freedom Concert” was a widely anticipated event covered by several national media outlets including Reuters.

“I have been waiting for you, it is nice to hear not only Ukrainian bands but also American ones on the same stage, welcome to Ukraine,” remarked a Kyiv Open Air Festival staffer.

The group has enjoyed tremendous support via social media. Taras Revunets commented “Thank you for turning my MP3 player into a live band! And what a band! Happy 4th of July!”

Together with NATO, USAREUR is committed to standing with the people of Ukraine. The performance illustrates the true diplomatic power of music in the Military, reinforcing the friendship and bond between nations.
